Pearson North Carolina Accident and Health Only
Your state requires the completion of a “locked” study manual, which is found by choosing View to the right of the Certification Exam tab in your courses. This manual may be a combination of text and video, which will lead you page-by-page and slide-by-slide through the program. You won’t be permitted to skip pages or slides and, throughout the program, you’ll encounter numerous quizzes. You’ll also have access to a PDF of the study manual in the Documents tab, which includes suggested study calendars. Upon completion, you’re required to take and pass an approved Certification Exam as proof of satisfying the pre-licensing requirement in your state. It’s important that you follow the instructions since your state may require additional documentation. Failure to follow these instructions will invalidate your exam. Upon successful completion of the Certificate Exam and submission of any additional documents, you’ll be given access to the approved Certificate.
North Carolina insurance regulation requires all students who take a state-approved insurance pre-licensing course to be assigned to an instructor. Your assigned instructor for this course is Dominick Scala and his contact information is listed below:
- Phone – (800) 782-2678 ext. 274
- E-mail – [email protected]
Furthermore, state regulation requires the student and the assigned instructor to communicate at least two (2) times during the course of the program. The student/instructor communication may be done “via person-to-person conferences, via telephone conversations, via e-mail or other forms of validated internet communication”.
This notice is considered one of the two (2) required student/instructor communications.
Topics of discussion may include:
- Course content material and training tools
- State examination and general registration questions
- Assistance creating a study calendar
- Study tips and
- Evaluation and diagnosis of student progress
Students can contact their assigned instructor as often as needed to ensure that all questions are adequately covered.
Accident and Health Final Exams
The final examinations and corresponding explanations represent the most important part of your exam preparation. These examinations will assist you in applying the concepts that you learned in the study manual to questions which are posed in the same multiple-choice format used in the actual examination.
Each exam may be taken either with or without the explanations displayed after each question. However, we strongly recommend that you begin by taking each exam with the explanations appearing after your answer is selected. By including the corresponding explanations, you have the ability to reinforce the mindset necessary to getting the right answer. The goal is to fully understand the concepts, rather than to simply memorize answers. Regardless of whether your answer is correct, read the entire explanation. Additionally, you can select “Mark for Review” for any question that you want to see again.
On your homepage, the “My Scores” button will provide you with a snapshot of your progress. This section provides you with your score per attempt as well as the amount of time spent testing. After completing multiple exams, this function will allow you to identify the topics representing strengths and those representing weaknesses. The topic breakdown is based on the chapters in the study manual.
Another important feature is the ability to create “Custom Exams.” The exams may be customized by selecting specific chapters as well the number of questions. This option provides you with the ability to focus on topics that you find the most challenging.
