This course will introduce environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing (also referred to as socially responsible investing). Readers will be provided with an outline of the key ESG factors and an explanation of what ESG investors seek when selecting investments. Discussion includes the opposition to ESG investing, including legislation to prevent the use of ESG investing in certain government investments. Finally, disclosure rules are examined, along with an SEC rule proposal regarding ESG investments.
